Jens Wagner lives in Bremen/Germany and has his own master class there at the Hochschule für Künste.

He worked with Karl Scheit in Vienna and received the music teacher's degree and a master's degree in performance. He was later awarded a master's degree at the Hochschule für Künste, (under Stephen Stubbs), majoring in the lute.

Jens Wagner has given many concerts as soloist, with orchestras, various chamber ensembles and as a  continuo player in baroque operas, giving him an unusually wide range of expertise. Besides the modern guitar repertoire he is also an expert in 19th century music and it’s interpretation on period instruments.

As a member of the  Duo Sonare which has become one of the leading classical guitar ensembles he performed in over 40 countries and is regularly invited to numerous international guitar festivals. 

International master classes at festivals (Bath, Esztergom, Mikulov, St. Paul) and schools (Manhattan School of Music New York, Yale University New Haven, Eastman School of Music Rochester, Universities of Hanoi and Saigon, Szczecin, Lodz) have helped establish his reputation as a stimulating guitar teacher. In Germany he teaches at the Hochschule für Künste (www.hfk-bremen.de) and the bremen guitar art - project . Regular master classes given in Germany at ‘Landesmusikakademie Heek NRW`' in Heek.

His 12 CD  recordings (Duo/Solo) have received exceptional acclaim. Jens Wagner has published music by Haydn and Telemann for the Heinrichhofen and Trekel Editions and wrote articles for several guitar magazines about movement and position of the guitar and fingernail treatment technique.
